Initial planning
Situated 40 km south-east of Avlona, at the border between Adriatiki Sea and Ionion Sea. It's formation is owed to the watershed, which covers an area of 1010 ha, out of which 800 ha are forest. The rest of the area is covered by meadows, grazing grounds and sharp rocky places.
In the National Forest we meet all vegetation belts of Albania (Mediterranean, oak, alpic, Dushkajare), exceptionally reach flora and fauna as well as plant communities of great interest.
In terms of the program, a Management Plan is worked out, aiming the effective protection, inspection, management, promotion and multiple development of natural resources of the region.


The Management plan includes:
  • Detailed registration of resources of the forest (flora, fauna, vegetation, their structure and composition , dynamic, biomass etc)
  • Registration of substructure (streets, nets, establishments and other faculties) and social-financial conditions (citizens, activities, livestock-breeding, today's usage and exploitation, the attitude/behavior of citizens etc) of a wider region.
  • Analysis and evaluation of data, alternative suggestions for development of resources, discussion with other institutions, co-decision, selection of the most suitable form of reclamation and development of the region.
  • final planning. Description of projects and works. Budget
  • Formation of a data-base and development of a Geographical Information System, that shall continuously be enriched and informed, to represent a valuable, dynamic instrument in the hands of the forest managers.
Implementation
In the general framework of composing and Administrative Plan for the national park of Logara the following works have been completed:
  • Registration of the abiotic and biotic parameters of the natural environment as well as elements of the human environment
  • Evaluation of the possibilities and restrictions in the administration of the area as well as the human tendencies towards the ecosystems of the area
  • Registration and evaluation of the specific biotic characteristics of the Park
  • Evaluation of the factors that influence the park administration and are connected to international legislation, the national policy for forests and mountain tourism as well as the area residents' attitudes.
The administration of the Park is designed with the scope of:
  • Offering opportunities for rural entertainment for a series of activities compatible to the Park environment,
  • Amelioration of the aesthetics of the area landscapes
  • Highlighting the historic and cultural resources of the area
  • Creating new opportunities for work for researchers
  • Environmental education
  • Protection and betterment of the natural environment
  • Offering the opportunity for work for local residents.
For future administration:
  • The administration and park protection zones are defined
  • They are depicted on maps and a detailed description of the measures and restrictions of activities in those areas
  • Certain measures and projects are designed for a more complete organization and utilization of the Park
The composition of a body to carry out the administrative plan and a long-term revision and completion program is suggested.
