Youth Outreach

All the activities that have been developed have contributed greatly to the growth in the spiritual life of the young people. They have raised their educational and cultural levels, and have integrated the youth into the broader society. These activities also have assisted in addressing the social problems that exists in our society.  We extend a special thank you to the shepherd of our church, His Beatitude, Archbishop of Tirana and all Albania, Anastasios, because it is only through his love and his interest these activities began and continue to be organized. Also we express our gratitude to all organizations in and outside of Albania, that have supported the projects of the Orthodox youth of Albania.

Activities with disabled youth

The central youth office in cooperation with The Albanian Disability Rights Foundation has organized camps for disabled youth and other activities for different feasts.

Children’s camps

On their own initiative, youth from several youth centers have organized children’s camps in different dioceses. Additionally, for the first time, a children’s camp was held in Kosovo for about 500 children. The youth contributed by preparing the program and implementing its activities.

Activities in Student City

The Fellowship of Orthodox Students was created in 1994. The main goal of this fellowship was to gather together youth from Student City in a spirit of love and sincerity for the purposes of friendship and learning, with love of Christ being central.

The following are some of the activities that have been organized by youth groups in their youth centers

Catechism Lessons

One of the main objectives of the youth groups is to teach youth to know more about the Orthodox Christian faith and Orthodox life in community. Along with these, different services are held in the youth centers, such as the paraklisis and short prayers. Also organized are catechism sessions in the form of a discussion group, where youth interact about the problems that they are facing.

Courses

The youth centers offer different courses in such subjects as foreign languages, computer, sewing, guitar, mandolin, architecture, painting, Iconography, Byzantine music, cooking, arts and crafts, etc.

Service of love

Another important objective of the youth groups is to serve people who are in need. Youth groups have organized visits to different Institutions, such as to orphanages, hospitals, prisons, homes for the elderly, and homes for the disabled.

Excursions

Excursions to different cultural and religious sites have helped our youth to strengthen their relationships, and has given them an opportunity to know better some of the religious sites and tourist attractions of our country.

Library

The opening of libraries in the youth centers has given our youth the opportunity to expand their knowledge from the religious point of view, as well as in other fields, such as history, literature, and the sciences.

Publish

Some of our youth groups are now publishing monthly journals or magazines. These publications have as an aim to transmit to all people, especially those among the youth, the message of faith, hope and love. These magazines contain articles covering a variety of subjects, such as spiritual, cultural, sports and scientific.

Choir

All of the youth groups have established choirs. The choir chants each Sunday in the Divine Liturgy and participates in different activities that are organized at the national and diocesan levels.
