The
52 youth groups that have been established through-out the country
organize spiritual and cultural activities.
In 1999 the
National Youth office was opened in Tirana, and regional offices were
opened in every diocese.
Each year the
youth have different activities, such as summer and winter camps,
involving more that 1,600 young people from all Albania. Two
camps for youth have been organized in Glikomili near Dropulli and in
Çuka near Saranda. Other youth activities include conferences,
olympics, sister city programs, activities with handicapped young
people, excursions, youth festivals, etc. Summer camps have been
organized for children from the Malisheva region in Kosovo, building
upon relationships that were established during the crisis of 1999.
Special attention
is given to students in the universities of Tirana, Elbasan and Vlora.
Bible studies, liturgical services, foreign language courses,
excursions, etc. have been organized for these young people.
Since 1999,
the National Youth Office has been working in Tirana, and youth office
have been opened in every diocese of Albania. Last year, a
building was purchased to serve as a spiritual center for the youth of
Tirana.
From
17-23 August 2004, a conference involving Orthodox youth from all the
Balkan states was held at the campus of Theological Academy and the
Monastery of St. Vlash. This was the first effort to bring
Balkan Orthodox youth together and had as its theme, "Together with
Christ".
